The ST450 Saddle Stitcher at Janetschek Printing Company

The Janetschek Printing Company, with four locations in Austria, attaches great importance to sustainability; their pioneers in the field. They have designed a production process that prioritizes being as environmentally friendly as possible (e.g., through the consistent use of eco-papers) and they have added a photovoltaic system on the roofs of all production buildings. Customers who are especially concerned about the impact of their work on the environment, have the option to print in a climate-neutral way by offsetting the CO2 emissions precisely determined for each print job through a regional humus regeneration project set up by Janetschek.

By acquiring a refurbished ST450 saddle stitcher from PPL, Janetschek was responding to the increased demand for print products in shorter runs that require frequent format changes. After surveying the market, they came to the conclusion that efficient production did not necessarily require a new machine. With the ST450, the level of automation is so advanced that even older models are still well suited to the requirements of today’s production needs and to those described above.

Janetschek also decided to recycle a machine that had been refurbished by PPL’s experts, instead of purchasing a new one. Such a move was in keeping with the company’s sustainability goals; it eliminated the need to use additional resources to produce a new machine.
